NC State Mountain Fair – Sept 5-14

Located in Fletcher at the AG Center (near the airport) the Mountain State Fair runs from Sept 5-14.  Admission is $8/adult, $4/child 6-12, and $4/senior.  If purchasing in advance you can save $2 off each ticket.  Tons of rides, games, displays, food, entertainment, farm animals, etc.  And don’t forget the pig races!  Check out:  www.MountainFair.org for all the details.

Historic Morganton Festival – Fri Sept 5, Sat Sept 6

Located in downtown Morganton, this yearly festival offers free entertainment at several stages, food and craft vendors, a wine tasting garden, clowns & magicians for the kids, and more.  Fri hours 3-11pm and Sat 9am-10pm.  Check out:  MorgantonFest.org for times and more info, including a festival map.

Silver Fork Winery – Morganton

Just a short drive from Hidden Lake this new winery always has something going on.  Music each weekend from 2-5pm, with Farm to Fork eatery open Sat & Sun offering various salads and sandwiches for purchase.  Tasting room open Wed-Fri 12-7 and Sat-Sun 12-6.  For more info and an event schedule check out:  www.SilverForkWinery.com

South Creek Winery – Nebo

Another nearby winery and vineyard offering Bordeaux style wines.  Music on the deck most weekends.  Hours are Wed-Sat 11-5, Sun 1-5.  Check out their site for more info:  www.SouthCreekWinery.com

Belle Nicho Winery – Nebo

Small farmstead winery using French-American hybrids.  Their sustainable practices using organically approved products help in the enhancement of their wines.  Find them on Facebook.

Railroad Days – Old Fort

On Saturday from 10-4 the town of Old Fort offers its annual Railroad Days event,  Vintage cars, vintage trains, muscle cars, model trains, and a pump car will be on display.  There will be trackless train for the kiddies along with food vendors.  Check out:  www.McDowellNC.org and look for the Events Calendar for more details.

Old Timey Fall Festival – Burnsville
